About Bhagwa Pomegranate

Bhagwa is the pomegranate variety international buyers name explicitly, and the reason is practical rather than cosmetic. Alongside deep saffron-red skin, soft seeds and dark red arils, it carries a thicker rind than older Indian varieties such as Ganesh — and that rind is what allows fruit to survive a sea leg in sound condition. It displaced its predecessors in the export trade rather than merely competing with them.

Fruit is picked at export maturity and graded by count size, commonly from around 200 g upward. Gulf programmes frequently take fruit in the 250–300 g range, while European buyers often specify 300 g and above. Packing is 3–4 kg corrugated boxes with fruit separated to prevent bruising in transit.

Shipped in reefer containers at 5–7°C, Bhagwa holds up to around two months, which makes sea freight viable to the Gulf, Europe and Asia. Availability follows the bahar flowering cycles rather than a single annual harvest, so tell us your delivery window and we will confirm against the cycle then in production.
