About Cocopeat 5 kg Block
The 5 kg block is the standard trade format for cocopeat: coir pith that has been dried, sieved and compressed to roughly 30 × 30 cm, so a container carries growing medium rather than air. Soaked in water, a block breaks down into a loose, fibrous medium that holds both water and air, ready for nurseries, potting mixes, greenhouse beds and hydroponic systems.
Choose the grade by the crop. Washed, low EC blocks have had soluble salts rinsed out and suit general nursery and potting use. Buffered blocks have also been treated with calcium nitrate, so that calcium replaces the potassium and sodium bound to the pith itself. That matters for hydroponic and greenhouse crops, where those elements would otherwise hold back calcium and magnesium from the plant.
Specify the block by its numbers: EC and the test method used, pH, maximum moisture at dispatch, expansion volume, and maximum sand and impurities. Some buyers also set a particle size or fibre content, which changes how the medium drains. Pre-shipment lab reports can be arranged, so the figures are checked before loading rather than after arrival.
Blocks ship in 40 ft high cube containers, palletised or floor-loaded, with buyer-branded labels available on confirmed orders. If you also need 650 g briquettes, grow bags or discs, say so at the enquiry stage and we will quote them with the blocks.
Compressed blocks keep well if they are stored dry, under cover and off the floor, which also stops them taking up moisture before use. To prepare one, soak it in clean water and break it apart as it swells. Coir pith supplies little nutrition of its own in either grade, so crops grown in it need a feeding programme from the start.
